Documentation and Editing

  • Used FrameMaker, WebWorks, and MIF2GO plugin to produce user guides and online Help for software products.
  • Coordinated with developers and product managers to determine the target audience, documentation media, and pertinent information to include in the information products.
  • Contributed toward specification development and worked with QA staff and software developers to improve existing software user interfaces.
  • Introduced standard processes and created style guides and FrameMaker templates for documentation groups.
  • Saved 40% in printing costs and introduced searchable online document capabilities by developing a PDF publishing process for user manuals.
  • Wrote winning proposals across multiple vertical industries for Service-Oriented Architecture and business processing software, resulting in millions of dollars of revenue.
  • Produced selling guides, fast facts, and case study speaker notes for sales representatives.

Project Management and Leadership

  • Oversaw the proposal response process and managed scheduling for the proposal team. Created a wiki dashboard to track ongoing tasks and archive responses for company-wide use.
  • Successfully coordinated the efforts of 16 writers to update a company name and logo change across 200 user manuals over a two week period.
  • Managed the creation and maintenance of a proposal content knowledgebase, ensuring usability and content accuracy. Led the effort to convert the grassroots application to an enterprise-supported content delivery system.
  • Taught FrameMaker techniques and style guide usage to coworkers in preparation for using FrameMaker as an authoring solution.
  • Participated in mentoring opportunities to enhance my knowledge of marketing and technical communication practices.

Web Design and Development

  • Maintain weekly announcements and add notices for special events for a church Web site.
  • Maintain a personal blog with a customized template and widgets in addition to this professional blog.
  • Used Dreamweaver to redesign the NC State University Graduate Student Association Web site for a contest entry.
  • Edited HTML and ASP code for a university library’s Web site.
  • Analyzed user requirements for an internal Web site redesign to improve communication and knowledge-sharing between departments. Implemented a survey to obtain preliminary feedback on the new design.
